1. To put one’s phone on silent/vibrate means to turn off the sound/set it to vibrate.
I forgot to put my phone on silent when I was at the movies. I was so embarrassed when it suddenly rang!
2. A pet peeve of someone’s is something that is very annoying or irritating to that person.
Slow drivers are a pet peeve of mine.
He didn’t even look at me while I was talking to him! He had his eyes glued to the screen the whole time. I guess the game is more important to him…
