この表現は、相手が自分（または他の人）よりも良すぎるときに、使う表現です。

mean　とかは使えないとのことで、若干、いじけた表現ですね。

2. You have a thing for someone/something when you really like that person or thing.

I like Judith because I have a thing for redheads.

これも難しい表現！

I like a cat becauses I have a thing for furry animals. といったら

それも変だよ！動物フェティッシュみたいだ、ということでした。

I like my husband because I have a thing for kindness.

も違うよ！　肉体的なこととか見た目とかだよ！となりまして、

brunettes（焦げ茶の髪）　とかそういうことが正しいとなりまして

これも、また言いにくい。人を見た目でどうこういうようなlookismは撲滅されるべき！

3. When you break the ice with someone, you do or say things to make him/her feel more comfortable with you.

I asked about his favorite music to break the ice.

これは普通！普通に使う！
